First two months of 2006 show Vietnam's fibre imports turnover reaching 32.1 million tons worth US $51.5 million, thanks largely to the reducing price of fibre supplied by China and Taiwan.

As compared with same period 2005, these results show a rise by 22 percent and 23 percent in imports volume and value, respectively.

Cotton imports during this period saw a sudden increase from India to surpass the position of leaders US and Switzerland to become the largest cotton supplier of the country due to its competitive prices.

Indian cotton price exported to Vietnam fluctuates between $1059-1208 per ton, market sources inform.
