China's textile and apparel exports jump in August 2013

The exports of textiles and apparel by China increased nearly 14 percent year-on-year in August 2013, according to the latest Customs data.
 
China earned US$ 28.041 billion from textile and clothing exports in August 2013, showing an increase of 13.99 percent year-on-year and 1.33 percent month-on-month.
 
Segment-wise, exports of textiles, including yarn, fabric and related products, were valued at US$ 9.388 billion, registering a rise of 16.73 percent year-on-year, but down 1.97 percent over July figures.
 
Exports of garments and garment accessories fetched US$ 18.654 billion, up 12.66 percent year-on-year and 3.09 percent month-on-month.
 
From January to August 2013, China’s total textile and apparel exports stood at US$ 182.946 billion, representing an increase of US$ 20.914 billion or 12.91 percent over corresponding period of last year.
