Silk Park at Zakura: Zargar, Jammu & Kashmir to promote traditional industry

Later, the Minister laid foundation stone of Rs. 50 lakh cocoon ware House to provide facilities of scientific storage of cocoons for reeling units for quality silk yarns production comparable to Japanes silk. The ware House shall have a storage capacity of 60,000 kgs of cocoons at a time. The facility would serve twin objectives of sustainable and dependable market cover to the cocoon growers, thus enabling optimum utilization of cocoons locally and to generate employment avenues in the silk reeling sector.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said seven such cocoon ware Houses would be set-up in the state to revive traditional silk Industry.
The Minister said that Hot Air Drying plants each costing Rs.40 lakh would be set-up in all the seven cocoon ware houses to dry cocoons on scientific lines and pre-prone the sale of cocoons to the advantage of the cocoon growers. He called for adopting scientific disease management practices to produce good quality silk worms. He also urged to bring compact areas and waste state land under the Mulberry Plantation.
