Ethylene prices surge in Asian markets last week

In Southeast Asian market, Ethylene prices rose by 2 percent to US$ 1395-1400/ton in the week ending September 20 compared to the fortnight ending September 15. Prices increased sharply on September 21 and were quoted at US$ 1440/ton. The average prices for the fortnight ending September 15 were US$ 1370-1375/ton.
In Far East Asia, too, Ethylene prices increased to US$ 1235-1240/ton in the week ending September 20, and escalated to US$ 1290/ton on September 21. The average prices for the fortnight ending September 15 were US$ 1235-1240/ton.
In European market, Ethylene prices decreased by 2 percent in the week ending September 20 as compared to the fortnight ending September 15, due to a sharp fall in upstream product prices and weaker demand trends in the region. Prices were assessed at US$ 1440/ton in the last week and were at US$ 1460-1465/ton in the last fortnight.
In U.S.A markets, Ethylene prices dipped by 2 percent in the week ending September 20 to 53 cents/lb as compared to 54 cents/lb in the fortnight ending September 15.
On September 21, Ethylene prices were quoted at 52 cents/lb in US domestic market and at € 1105/ton in European domestic market.
