Another new feature at Carpet Design Awards 2014 will be the Carpet Design Competition for Young Designers and Students. The competition aims to inspire an interest among the new generation of designers in the art of knotted carpets and is intended to show that the manufacturing process imposes no limits on the creative input of designers.
Six selected carpet designs are currently being hand-knotted in Afghanistan and will be presented at DOMOTEX in January. It is from this selection that the judges in Hannover will pick one winner in each of the categories “Young Designer” and “Student Designer”. The competition is being sponsored by the Task Force for Business and Stability Operations (TFBSO), a Division of the US Department of Defense.
In 2013 the competition attracted 214 entries from manufacturers in 25 countries. More information on the terms of participation for the 2014 Carpet Design Awards.
