Mercedes-Benz to sponsor Amsterdam Fashion Week

For the very first time in its history of nearly 10 years, the forthcoming edition of Amsterdam Fashion Week will be officially sponsored by the internationally renowned car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz.
 
Known as one of the major fashion events of the Netherlands, the new title sponsorship will help in confirming the growing global importance of Amsterdam as ‘Fashion Capital’.
 
The event’s newly branded title Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam would be in effect from the upcoming 20th edition, which is scheduled to take place from January 17 to 27, 2014.
 
Based on three motivating factors like connect, grow and celebrate, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam, erstwhile Amsterdam Fashion Week, will mainly focus on the creations of Dutch designers.
 
The event will serve as a common meeting ground for designers, labels, buyers, national and international media, government and semi-government agencies as well as investors to mingle and foster business relationships.
 
The consumer-oriented event, which was earlier organized by companies like Fortis and Volvo, will be divided into four segments—Catwalk, Downtown, Fashion Lab and Business.
 
Before lending its name to the Amsterdam event, Mercedes-Benz had earlier sponsored two main Dutch Fashion Foundation organized soirees—Prelude and the Dutch Fashion Awards.
 
The German automobile manufacturer also sponsors the leading fashion weeks in New York, Milan, Paris, Sydney, Melbourne, Berlin, Madrid and London.
