Famed Persian carpets manufactured by Carpet Joint Stock Company are all set to add to the décor of Palaces of the Persian Gulf State of Sultanate of Oman.
Seyyed Jalaleddin Bassam, President of the Company, confirmed the news quoted in local media reiterating his company having received orders to furnish nine hand-woven carpets inside the Palace and a contract to that effect has been signed officially with the Oman Government.
In the northwestern city of Tabriz, around 45 weavers will engage in weaving the carpets.
Bassam informs that most of the carpets produced by their Company are exported to Oman and an international marketing campaign to promote export to other countries has been launched.
During the period March 2005 to January 2006, Iran exported US $370.5 million worth of fine rugs and carpets.
Germany, the United States, United Arab Emirates, Italy and Japan, were major export destinations and shared 67 percentage of the exports during the aforesaid period.
Carpet exports will grow by 10 percent this year, industry sources forecast.
