In the same style as New York’s Macy’s Day parade, commercial brands will have the unique opportunity to sponsor a one-of-a-kind float in the first ‘Great Christmas Parade’ 2014. The event will kick start the busy Christmas shopping period, driving footfall and sales to High Streets up and down the country with the parade’s finale giving a must needed boost to the evening economy in each city. The Great Christmas Parade welcomes the local community to come and take part throughout the tour.
Current cities are being finalised and logistics worked out with the following: Plymouth, Bristol, Hull, London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle. Shows and marching bands from across the UK will perform in between the sponsored floats, providing over two miles of engaging entertainment for thousands of spectators lining the streets. There will be two parade times in each location at 12 midday and 5pm.
Media Circus will in charge of the logistics and sponsors of this annual event, having 12 year’s experience with Christmas Campaigns.
The Great Christmas Parade will be one of the biggest events happening in the UK in 2014.
Martin Blackwell, CEO, Association of Town and City Management says “ There will be huge excitement about the parades, and they are a great opportunity for businesses of all sizes to benefit from the increased footfall that an event like this can create. The involvement of local communities will ensure sustainability, and we really hope that this can become a big part of the annual festive calendar throughout the country .”
Leslie Rose OBE, PATRON of the Make A Wish Foundation says, “Britain has been in need of a big moment to mark the start of the Christmas period and the arrival of the ‘Great Christmas Parade’ is just the ticket to bring communities together for a worthy cause.”
Cllr Nick McDonald, Portfolio Holder for Jobs and Growth at Nottingham City Council, says, “This parade would be a fantastic way to kick off the festive season. We welcome innovative things that bring people together in our city, and with Nottingham being one of the UK’s top ten retail destinations, this would be a showcase for the great things our legendary city has to offer. I look forward to seeing these plans in more details and working with local trade organisations to help make something special happen in the run up to Christmas 2014.”
