Brazil exports cotton worth $1.1bn in 2013: ANEA

The Latin American country of Brazil exported cotton amounting to US$ 1.1 billion during 2013, as per the data released by the National Association of Cotton Exporters (ANEA).
 
According to the Brazilian Exports of Cotton 2013 data of ANEA, the country exported 572,913 tons of cotton during January to December 2013, totaling $1.1 billion.
 
Country-wise, South Korea was the main destination for cotton exports from the country, with Brazil exporting 127,442 tons of cotton worth $252.87 million during last year. Indonesia ranked second with Brazil exporting 121,920 tons of cotton worth $231.23 million to the country in 2013.
 
Brazil exported 96,647 tons of cotton totaling $189.24 million to China, 38,408 tons of cotton amounting to $75.7 million to Vietnam, 37,317 tons of cotton worth $70.4 million to Taiwan and 35,100 tons of cotton worth $66.43 million to Thailand, during last year.
 
As per the ANEA data, the state of Sao Paolo was the highest exporter of cotton from Brazil, with the state exporting 413,724 tons of cotton amounting to $802.86 million during last year. The state of Parana ranked second with exports of 146,451 tons of cotton worth $282.64 million, followed by the state of Bahia with 6,277 tons of cotton worth $9.10 million.
 
In 2012, Brazil exported around 1.05 million tons of cotton valued at $2.10 billion. China was the main destination for exports of Brazilian cotton during 2012, with the country exporting around 355,285 tons of cotton worth $721.24 million to China.
