Milan Fashion Week introduces Autumn/Winter 2014 lines

After leaving London, the Autumn/Winter 2014 season has now hit the runways of Italian fashion capital of Milan with a string of style studded ready-to-wear collections in tow.

Italian luxury fashion house Gucci harked back to the 1960’s era for its latest Milan Fashion Week presentation. Designed under the guidance of the brand’s creative director Frida Giannini, the range is based on soft painterly pastels like baby blue, sage green, blush pink and mustardy yellow.

The ensembles included fluffy fur coats, double-breasted coats, leather bodices, animal print jackets, snug peacoats, metallic cocktail minidresses and sleeveless dresses with sharp above-the-knee hems.

Autumnal forest played as the source of inspiration behind Italian dressmaker Alberta Ferretti’s creations. Decorated with motifs of birds, dry fallen leaves and grass, the line featured light dresses, voluminous sweaters, coats and elegant evening gowns in muted shades of green, red, orange and gray colours.

Milan-based fashion house Versace’s diffusion line Versus Versace once again highlighted its love for guitar strumming rockstars. Designed by the label’s current President Donatella Versace, the range showcased black leather dresses with gold zips, denim-backed biker jackets, lace inserted halter numbers, leopard-print bombers, skinny jeans and varsity jackets.

Sicily-born New York-based celebrity favourite designer Fausto Puglisi’s range was a riot of vibrant colours and embroideries. Drawing inspiration from various resources such as the works of artists Kazimir Malevich and Sonia Delaunay, Parisian company Ballets Russes and the Statue of Liberty, the featured pieces were sweatshirts, silk button-front blouses, Tutu skirts, tough-chic leather jackets and loose-fit crewneck sweaters.
