With the aim of bringing the latest trends from the British fashion industry to consumers in the Philippines, the British Embassy in Manila recently opened the British Fashion Month exhibition which will run till March 9, in the capital city of Manila.

According to a statement issued by the Government of UK, the British Fashion Month is an exhibition aiming to showcase UK’s high-street clothing brands through recreating the fashion street in London within the walls of several malls in Philippines.

To mark the event, British Ambassador to the Philippines Asif Ahmed opened an exhibit at the SM Aura Premier shopping mall in Manila, where several high-end apparel brands such as Marks and Spencer, Lee Cooper, River Island and Clarks showcased their latest collections.

During the fashion month, several such exhibitions would be organized at different SM Supermalls in the city, where these brands would be offering special promotions and discounts to shoppers.

Mr. Ahmed said that the UK has long been a playground for designers to unleash their imagination, inspiring others with their creations and defining iconic periods in fashion, from mod to punk, from high street to high fashion, from office to everyday casual wear, British fashion has been adopted and adapted throughout the world.

Shopping is a national passion in the Philippines and during the British Fashion Month, creativity and design trends from the UK that have a global following will be on display at the malls and several Philippine consumers would get the opportunity to see clothes, shoes and accessories from a wide range of brands and retailers, he added.

British Fashion Month is part of ‘This is GREAT Britain’, a five month celebration of the best of British business and culture, which will culminate in March 2014 with the Great British Festival 3-day weekend at Bonifacio High Street in the Philippines.
