To expand Vietnam's textile and garment trade, a developmental scheme has been formulated.
The scheme incorporates plans by Vinatex to invest VND16.115 billion ($1.01 million) in 24 key projects during 2006–10.
These projects are divided into 6 fields, including materials, development of textile, development of garment, construction of distribution networks, improvement of researching, training and designing within fashion, and infrastructure.
Of these projects, textile sector received special attention as Vietnam imports fabric and Vinatex expects to develop manufacturing of fabrics.
Implementation of these projects, involving huge investments, will help Vietnam's textile industry to produce 301 million m2 of shuttling fabric (190 million m2 for export) and 106 million m2 of knitting fabric (81 million m2 for export) by 2010.
