The Central American country of Guatemala is all set to host the 23rd edition of the Apparel Sourcing Show, a specialized exhibition for Guatemalan clothing and textile industry, scheduled to be held from May 20 to 22, 2014, at the Grand Tikal Futura Convention Center in Guatemala City, said Minister of Economy of Guatemala Sergio de La Torre.

During a recent meeting with investors from New York, Mr. Torre said the goal of organizing the fair is to make the country a logistics center for production of goods and services in Mesoamerica (region and cultural area in the Americas extending from central Mexico to Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and northern Costa Rica), reports Guatemalan national newspaper Diario de Centro America.

The Government would work towards improving conditions in the textile and clothing sector of the country, in order to promote domestic and foreign investments in the sector, which would help in generating more jobs in Guatemala, he added.

The three-day fair, organized by the Industry Association of Clothing and Textiles (VESTEX) with the support of Ministry of Economy of Guatemala, would have more than 500 exhibitors, including 100 exhibitors from Latin America, showcasing various apparel products and accessories.

Around 4,000 buyers from Latin America are expected to attend the show, where apparel producers, textile mill owners, and retailers would be showcasing latest products including garment accessories, apparel machineries and technologies
