Peruvian SMEs to participate in Colombiamoda 2014
Apr '14
Twenty small and medium enterprises (SMEs) operating in the textiles and apparel sector from the Peruvian region of Arequipa would be participating in the 25th edition of the most important trade fair for Colombian apparel sector, the Colombiamoda fair, scheduled to be held from July 22 to 25, 2014, in the Colombian city of Medellin.

Coordinator of business and investment of the Institute for Export and Fashion of Colombia (INEXMODA) Carolina Fernandez, recently met with Peruvian entrepreneurs in Arequipa to invite them to participate in the Colombian fair, reports La Republica.

Ms. Fernandez said INEXMODA invites entrepreneurs from the Peruvian Arequipa to participate in Colombiamoda as not only are the textiles and apparel manufacturers in the region talented, but they have also been working on research to create new fibres and INEXMODA wants to offer them an opportunity to present their products on an international platform.

The INEXMODA official said that the quality of Peruvian products, especially in alpaca, vicuna wool and cotton, have turned the country into a major competitor in the international textile market, and Peru has a manufacturing industry which is continuously developing, with dozens of new apparel brands, she added.

Considered to be Colombia’s fashion week, the 25th edition of Colombiamoda fair is the most important trade platform in Latin America, where leading domestic and international apparel manufacturers, distributors, and designers present their latest collection to more than 65,000 visitors expected to attend the show.

The exhibition would have several gateway shows where world renowned designers would be showcasing their latest collections, and parallel to the event, various seminars and conferences would also be held where apparel manufacturers would get the opportunity to interact with international buyers and exchange information.
