Indian & Pakistani designers to show at Faisana in London

Three Indian and three Pakistani designers will showcase the best of traditional and contemporary South Asian high-end fashions at the forthcoming inaugural edition of Faisana: Fashion Weekend, a one-of-a-kind pop-up fashion do slated to be held from May 2 to 3, 2014 in London.

Famous Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre will present a festive range titled Jaipur Bride at the two-day-long soiree. Inspired from the architectural magnificence of India’s Jantar Mantar, the line is decorated with geometrically shaped and patterned embroidery and gota patti work. The pieces include lehengas, jackets, salwar kameezes, palazzo pants and bandis.

Karachi’s Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture alumnus Nida Azwer will once again display her trademark sumptuously detailed and intricately embellished lines of clothing hand crafted from pure fabrics like Irish linen, chiffon, hand-woven silk and brocade.

In addition to the above mentioned names, Indian labels—Rina Dhaka and Bhairavi Jaikishan—as well as Pakistani designers—Umar Sayeed and Sania Maskatiya—are also gearing up to showcase their reasonably priced exquisite creations at the soiree.

Other than the glitzy runway parades, the event will also host The Grand Trunk Show, a sale-cum-fashion exhibit which would feature an array of ready to wear and couture pieces designed by the South Asian design participants.

The event is being organized by the high-end South Asian fashion focused well-known marketing and distribution companies Radhika Hasan Limited (RHL) and Aamna and Aisha (A&A).
