Hats make a comeback as fashion accessory

Colombian designer Hernan Zajar's creations were displayed by models during Spring/Summer 2006 Milan Fashion Week show.

Big straw sun hats drew applause and appreciation from women, inparticular. People who desire to add hat as a useful accessory in their summer wardrobe, have no better time than this season.

Straw hats have many admirable qualities such as protecting skin from wild sun tan, provides good cover during bad hair days and of course, provides the glamorous Hollywood touch.

Suzanne Timmins, Fashion Director at The Bay says a hat is definitely in vogue and not mere poolside accessory.

Its style has basically remained same, although clothes parried with it have changed, Timmins opined.

Kate Olsen wore a hat to camouflage from pestering paparazzi last season, popularizing it as an accessory for bohemian hippie look.

For this season, a hat offers a hip, chic and clean style that combines as a perfect style accessory for weekend shopping downtown or for a casual occasion.

It reminds us of Jackie Onassis in Capri, or Twiggy in London, Timmins reminiscences.

For a go, she advises a little 60s dress paired with huge over-sized sunglasses and some nice flat sandals topped with a perfect hat.
