India's cotton yarn exports decrease in Jan-August'14

The export registrations for cotton yarn from India during the first eight months of the current year have decreased compared to last year, mainly due to dip in demand from China.
From January to August 2014, registration of contract for export of cotton yarn was 827.335 million kg, according to the data released by Export Cell, Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
In comparison, during the first eight months of last year, the figure stood at 902.85 million kg, which shows that India’s cotton yarn export registrations declined by 8.36 percent during January-August 2014.
In 2013, India’s total cotton yarn export registrations with the DGFT stood at 1365.631 million kg.
In last fiscal year 2013-14, India exported 1414.523 million kg of cotton yarn, according to the DGFT data.
During the ongoing cotton season that began on October 1, 2013, India’s cotton yarn export registrations so far are to the tune of 1180.476 million kg. (RKS)
