Sept prices of cotton yarn made by South India mills down

Higher domestic cotton price as compared to global prices coupled with lack of quality cotton, high inventory as well as fall in demand, led to prices of cotton yarn produced in South Indian textile mills declining by around 5-6 INR/kg in September 2014.

Average prices of open end (OE) yarn 6/1 OE declined by 2.72 percent to 99.52 INR/kg, while that of 7/1 OE fell 5.78 percent to 109.30 INR/kg, 10/1 OE dropped 1.89 percent to 102.84 INR/kg, 16/1 OE decreased 5.23 percent to 126.20 INR/kg and 20/1 OE fell 3.51 percent to 127.71 INR/kg.

Average prices of singles carded yarn 20/1 KW declined by 1.97 percent to 168.79 INR/kg, while that of 30/1 KW fell 2.90 percent to 183.34 INR/kg and 40/1 KW dropped 3.61 percent to 200.27 INR/kg.

Similarly, prices of singles combed yarn 20/1 CW fell by 2.13 percent to 193.13 INR/kg, 30/1CW declined 2.68 percent to 203.37 INR/kg, 40/1 CW decreased 3.28 percent to 221.98 INR/kg, 60/1 CW by 2.86 percent to 273.80 INR/kg, and 80/1 CW by 3.02 percent to 370.94 INR/kg.
