Oeko-Tex revises requirements for STeP by Oeko-Tex

The guidelines for production waste have been modified in the new STeP standard so that appropriate storage areas must be provided immediately to ensure that, wherever possible, pollution of the immediate environment and groundwater is excluded.

The objective for production companies is to ensure that the storage of production waste has no impact whatsoever on the environment.

In the area of "Chemicals Management", the list of banned and regulated substances for the manufacture of textiles or the ‘Manufacturing Restricted Substances List’ (MRSL) has been updated.

Oeko-Tex also expanded the list of exclusionary criteria, whereby compliance with these criteria is a mandatory requirement for certification in accordance with STeP by Oeko-Tex to include other aspects.

This includes that the specifications that each employee must receive a written employment contract, a company ensures specific workplace conditions for young employees and payment of deposits for new employees is not permitted.

“The STeP standard can now also be applied to production companies for accessory parts for textile manufacture with immediate effect,” Oeko-Tex included by saying. (AR)
