Australian Wool Services' division charged with innovation development for the processing sector has found a solution to a problem which has been eluding the processing industry for decades, all by 'thinking outside the square'.
After 12 months extensive industry trials with a respected industry partner, ANDAR has announced the commercial availability of its Loose Wool Stock Shrink Resist Applicator system. It allows the processing of loose wool stock, as opposed to wool top, and gives a uniformity of coating which is far superior to any process existing in the industry.
This application method can also be used for Basolan to provide evenness of coating for exceptional dye uptake and softer handle of finished product.
ANDAR works with mills and processors in Asia, Europe and North America to find better, smarter ways of processing Australian wool.

As well as its success with Loose Stock Shrink Resist (1 machine, 3 million kg of wool processed annually), during 2005/06 ANDAR has reported increased market uptake of Australian wool through commercialisation of technologies which include:
• ANDAR Applicator (used to treat sliver using the Basolan technology to provide soft handling, bulky, deep-dyeing high value fibres): 9 machines, 8 million kg of wool being processed in China in the past year;
