In view of Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to be held in November 2007 in Uganda, the hotel industry had a growth rate by 21 percent in less than a year.
President Yoweri Museveni revealed that Uganda had commenced assembling motorcycles and will soon start assembling pickups and omnibuses with the aid of China.
He said that the country would be able to manufacture them indigenously soon and avoid the use of second hand cars and clothes.
He emphasized that the country must also strive to develop textile industry and therefore, taxes are heavily levied on used or second hand goods to encourage domestic production.
