Without a doubt, Bali Fashion Week had its own set of problems.
Disheartened Bali Fashion Week (BFW) financier and organising chairman Ika Mardiana declared “I'm at the point of breaking down”.
The fashion entrepreneur had to deal with never-ending ordeal of bureaucratic red tape and corruption. She learnt that participants from India (Kolkata-based designer Abhishek Dutta as well as Fashion TV) were denied visas to enter Indonesia.
The Balinese designer who is highly acclaimed in Hong Kong fashion industry, apologised for shortcomings in the presence of government officials, at the fashion finale at the Discovery Mall amphitheatre.
The Bali Fashion Week is modelled along the lines of the trade-oriented Hong Kong Fashion Week.
BFW is not so much focused on putting Bali on the global fashion map. Its objective is to encourage local talents and creativity.
Challenges inspired Ika to give the best who said, “We are going against the tide but I don't mind the challenge.”
