After 29 years of manufacturing, the Canningvale one of the leading towel companies closes down its Perth weaving mill as it could no longer make towel manufacturing in Australia commercially viable and about 140 people will lose their jobs.

There had been 25 manufacturers in the textile industry when Canningvale Australia was established in 1977 but there are now just two because of the increasing growth of low-cost imports, it was no longer viable to continue manufacturing operations.

Although the company will continue to operate as an importer and distributor retaining around 80 employees.

Company has committed in finding new jobs for all employees redundanted and has hired an outplacement agency to find them new positions, although they would all be paid their full entitlements.

Canningvale operates Australia's most modern weaving facility where the highest international standards of efficiency, quality and customer service are met and often exceeded.
