Ministry of Trade (MOT) report reveals that till July 27, 2006 Vietnam's quota-controlled textile and garment product exports turnover to the US market reaped $1.287 billion.
Among 25 quota–controlled categories, three categories generating biggest revenue include No. 338/339 (Cotton–knitted shirt for men and women) for $466.6 million with quota using – rate of 68.2 percent, No. 347/348 (Woolen clothes for men and women) netted over $370 million, with used quota of 62.7 percent and No.647/648 (Synthetic fibre trousers for men and women)pulling in $133.5 million at 78.8 percent.
MOT evaluated that most favorite categories have performed well with their export quota, at over 50 percent and earned large profits.
However, several categories with low value and small export volume registered poor performance, at less than 10 percent of quota use.
