Customs department in HCM City revealed that in the first seven months of 2006, total exports turnover of the city reached US $1.194 billion, of which textile and garment are leading.
During the period, textile and garment goods earned $519.3 million, a year–on–year rise of 12.9 percent, whereas the figures of footwear sector were $140.9 million, rose 6.4 percent from the same period 2005.
The South economic hub of Vietnam imported materials for textile and apparel industry worth $178.3 million and $36.7 million for materials of footwear, posted year–on–year increase of 7.8 percent and 5.2 percent, respectively.
