Textile industry is working hard to expand export markets and grab larger share in the US and EU markets that offer huge opportunities with the implementation of anti-dumping lawsuit on Chinese products.

Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), CEO, Gladys Modupe Sasore, believes that if the quality of products is improved to international standards, the demand is bound to rise, acquiring larger and new markets.

Also the Special Adviser to the President on Export Programme, Sasore explained that inadequate knowledge and wavering policies also adversely affect the exports.

She said that exports should be encouraged with raised quantity.

Industry experts agree and add that exports will help enhance economic development with maximum utilization of resources and employment and will prove to be a powerful weapon to fight poverty.

Federal Government has designed and established numerous interventionist institutions and programmes intended to support export, particularly in the textile industry, which was possible through introduction of micro-finance policy for entrepreneurs to access funds for mass production.

However, diversifying one's capital into instable activities will not assist trade development.
