At shareholders at the annual general meeting Chairman of multinational shoe company Bata India, P. M. Sinha informed that the company is planning to expand its retail network in rural areas, where it doesn't exist at present.
Mr. Sinha opined that the company is trying mount at the peak again and had put in place a swing of business restructuring and financial recast measures.
Explaining plans Sinha said that the company is likely to put scissors on its workforce by another 800 this year. The company has already started meeting with its worker's unions to acknowledge them a variable component in wages by linking incomes to sales performance.
Mr. Sinha opined that the full impact of the restructuring would be gained by the year 2006, however some results have begun to flow in.
