Government of Ghana has decided to sell all confiscated smuggled goods to workers of district assemblies, para-statals and general public at discounted prices.

Earlier Government was charging penalty to the owners of seized or smuggled goods to prevent such acts.

This move is being carried out in collaboration between the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment, on trial basis.

Smuggled wax print are available in market for between 160,000 cedis and 180,000 cedis, but it is sold to the staff for 50,000 cedis. Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) has seized over 60,000 piece of wax prints from December last year, till date.
