Country needs a lot more enhancement, says Alan of MFA Forum

AT the conference on the future of Bangladesh garment industry, Alan Roberts of the MFA forum stated that in the post-MFA era Bangladesh is better than China, but it needs to enhance the industry a lot within the next six months.
The conference was organized by International MFA Forum and UNDP at the IDB Bhaban in the city yesterday.
Robert informed that the major role of the buyers is to be firm on compliance, but they can also support the suppliers on building their capacity for compliance."
He said that there is a opportunity for Bangladesh to tackle the key issues that terrorize the textile and clothing industry in the post-MFA world.
Joint Secretary (Export) of the Ministry of Commerce Ghulam Hossain informed that the Government has set up three task forces to tackle various matters about the RMG sector.
Hossain also said that some issues like lower wages and upper limit of working hours could be resolved within the next six months.
BGMEA President Anisul Huq highlighted on need for fixing the agenda first and then the mode of action for resolving the problems.
