Maj Gen Elly Tumwiine was the guest-of-honour at the opening of GK fashion label at George Street Nakasero, which turned out to be a get together for the guests from Ugandans and Kenyans.
The show saw two designers Gloria Katatumba of Uganda and Grace Odhiambo from Kenya showcasing their talents. Katatumba's display consisted of Kinyankore and Kinyarwanda outfits made of silk with laces and bold floral prints and African embroidery.
GKat prices Katatumba's outfit between sh 150,000 and sh 200,000.
On the other hand, funky version of the gomesi, Masaai wear and the Kenyan national dress were displayed under the label Qouanza by Odhiambo. She had styled her dresses with porcupine spikes, cowrie shells, brass beads and seeds.
End of the show saw many women buying these outfits which cost between sh80,000 and sh150,000.
