Last year the belief was that the economic situation had begun to stabilise, however there were considerable doubts as to the sustainability of the situation.
On Sunday 27th August this autumn's 'Tracht & Country Classics Autumn', the international trade fair for Tracht and country house fashions, finally shut up shop for the winter, brushing aside any remaining uncertainty.
'Not only have we ridden the storm, the sector has once again found its feet after years of economic tension and the natural selection process in the trade and manufacturing sectors'.
This was the quintessential summary provided by Director Johann Jungreithmair, CEO with the show organisers, Reed Exhibitions Messe Salzburg.
This evaluation is also supported by independent research carried out by an external market research institute. 3 out of 5 interviewees (59.1 percent) said they were either very happy or fairly pleased with the current economic situation in their industry. Almost the same proportion (58.4 percent) expected the trend towards improvement to continue in the near future.
If the 'satisfied' replies are also included, a positive response to these two questions came from 85.1 percent and 89.6 percent of those polled.
Reed Exhibitions' CEO was also bolstered by the key results of the show. 'We had 150 direct exhibitors, more than half of whom came from abroad.
Four of the halls were filled and the visitor count of 4259 almostmatched the previous year's result when we achieved a visitor plus of 11 percent (4314).
Visitor figures at the 'Tracht & Country Classics 2006' also has to be seen in the light of the 'Tracht & Country Premiere', held at the end of July, which pulled in a record 1700 visitors'.
