Wool and Woollens Export Promotion Council held its 39th Annual General Meeting under the Chairmanship of Ashok Jaidka for adopting annual report, audited balance sheet and accounts along with electing members to the Committee of Administration.
Jaidka listed out problems like custom duty on wool waste, textile machinery, rigid labour policy, high transaction cost and irregular power supply, wool industry is confronted with right now.
He informed that export of wool and woolen-blended products stood at Rs2, 098.27 crore, an increase of 11.96 percent during 2005-06. Riding on this success, Council has set export target of US$500 million in 2006-07.
