Power supply & raw material cost bother powerloom

Lack of power supply and increasing raw material costs are haunting powerlooms in the country.
Power supply is not available according to the requirement of powerlooms, affecting modernisation phase of textile industry.
This problem of shortage of power supply should be solved quickly along with solution for high power rates, industry expert said.
Due to low profit margin powerlooms are working in two shifts resulting in 25 percent of the powerlooms staying idle.
There are 20 lakh powerlooms all over the country and for last five years there is over 14 percent increase in number of powerlooms in the industry.
Increase in price of raw material is also one of the major problems faced by industry. Between March and August this year, the average raw material prices increased by 14.41 percent.
Stability in the price of raw material should be maintained, as yarn manufacturers revise price in very short duration.
