From January to September 2006, total cotton textiles and clothing exports in China amounted to US $40.979 billion, indicating a year-on-year increase of 33.21 percent, of which, the contribution rate of cotton textiles and cotton clothing registered 16.87 percent and 83.12 percent, respectively, with cotton textiles dropping 6 percent in contribution rate.
In view of specific cotton textiles, among the cotton textile export value of $12.122 billion, cotton yarn only accounted for 11.46 percent, cotton fabrics accounted for 41.36 percent. In the exports of cotton fabric, gray fabrics, yarn-dye fabrics and dyeing cloth contributed 23.22 percent, 14.52 percent and 62.43 percent, respectively.
Annual cotton textile and apparel exports are expected to reach $56 billion, showing a year-on-year growth of 36 percent, of which, cotton textile exports will reach about $17 billion in terms of amount.
