IIAS group of institutions IIAS (formerly known as International Institute of Advanced Studies), based in Kolkata, has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Thailand's Siam University for collaboration in hospitality courses. Group offers diploma and degree courses in tourism and hotel management.
Moloy Dutta, Vice President, IIAS, conveyed that transfer of the group's students to Siam University for completion of the final year in Thailand, has been agreed upon under the MoU.
Dutta reasoned the selection of Thai University against those courses offered at UK and US as they were too expensive for students, while Thai University charged economical fees and provided international exposure to them, at the same time. Degree course in hospitality and tourism management is available for only Rs280,000.
Furthermore, IIAS will be opening retail management courses in partnership with Pantaloons in academic year 2007.
Institution students will be imparted practical training at Pantaloon stores in many Indian cities, following which they will be offered jobs at these stores, as per another agreement.
