Average annual textile machinery market worth of $8 bn

According to China Textile Machinery & Equipment Industry Association, from 2003 to the present date, textile machinery annual demand has basically remained at around US $8 billion, with change only appearing in the ratio adjustment between the number of imported and homemade machinery.

In 2004, China imported $3.5 billion of textile machinery equipments, sold 36.997 billion yuan of Chinese-made textile machinery, and exported $668 million.

In 2005, China imported $3 billion of equipments, sold 45.885 billion yuan of China-made machinery, and exported $887 million.

A few years ago, the annual growth of China's textiles industry represented approximately 10 million spindles, of which, 4-5 million spindles were the products in middle and lower ends. The annual demand of simple rapier looms was about 80,000-100,000 sets.

From the second half of 2004, with the state's macro regulation and control of restrictive measures being promulgated, textile industry had to postpone or halt some expanding projects, it obviously reduced the demand of textile machinery products in middle and lower ends, and promoted the rapid growth in demand for high-grade equipments.

Since the beginning of this year, it has more obviously reflected the change in demand trend. The first eight months of this year, sales of middle and lower ends equipments for scale expansion evidently reduced, and the market sales of high-grade machinery equipments performed better than any prior years.

China textile industry is expected to slow down the pace of expanding production capacity, but there will still be modest growth. Scientific and technological progress and brand creation will be the development theme of textile industry. International competition will become even more intense and control competition of terminal markets will be exacerbated.
