Punjab may receive two textile parks under SITP

Government is likely to sanction two private sector textile parks to Punjab under the Scheme for Integrated Textile Park (SITP).
Last month Planning Commission received approval for four parks under SITP.
The Plan Panel has kept norm of not to exceed 30 parks during 10th plan period. Till now, 26 textile parks under the current plan period have been cleared by Government. Out of the 26 textile parks cleared none of them have been allotted to Punjab.
Due to this, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh requested Textile Minister Shanker Singh Vaghela to clear the proposals from Abhishek Integrated Textile Park in Sangrur and Ludhiana integrated textile park, Ludhiana, Textile Ministry official confirmed.
