The winter session of the legislative Assembly held in Nagpur brings good news for the cotton growers in Maharashtra.
State Government had announced an aid of Rs1,500 per hectare to the cotton farmers. The department of agriculture has been given the responsibility to distribute the amount to the cotton growers.
Cotton marketing federation of the state has acquired around 8.25 lakh quintals up till now, while the Cotton Corporation of India, has procured around 10 lakh quintals.
If the Government had declared a higher price for cotton, it would have benefited the private traders but not the cotton farmers.
Finally, Maharashtra Government has been able to bring a smile on the faces of the cotton growers.
