As textile and clothing sector is free from quota restrictions, role of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has changed. During quota restrictions on Indian textile and clothing, the council was playing role of quota regulator.
Council has already formed 11 divisions in last six month such as fairs and exhibitions, publication, rural management, labour and consultancy.
It also identified key areas of productivity, compliance and rating which will help the sector and may rate companies based on quality management, production condition and compliance at each factory.
AEPC is also conducting many workshops and seminars on productivity and even signed memorandum of association with Fair Labour Association of the U.S for the Apparel Training and Design Centre's (ATDC) staff.
