In 2001, the net fixed assets of above-scale enterprises in textile industry was 371.946 billion yuan, and reached 572.036 billion yuan in 2005, then increased to 626.5 billion yuan up to October 2006.

In 2001, exports of textile industry registered US $54.3 billion, and reached $117.6 billion in 2005. Exports in 2006 are expected to achieve $145 billion, about 1.67 times over that in 2001.

The number of workers of above-scale enterprises was 7.634 million in 2001, and reached 994.8 million in 2005, then increased to 10.28 million as of October in 2006, rising 35 percent compared with the same period in 2001.

The sales value of the above-scale enterprises (present value) were 898.3 billion yuan in 2001, and reached 2.0189 trillion yuan in 2005, it is expected to reach 2.4 trillion yuan in 2006, up by 1.7 times.

The whole industry realized profit of 25.8 billion yuan in 2001, and reached 70.9 billion yuan in 2005. It is estimated the annual profit of 2006 will achieve 92.8 billion yuan, rising by 2.6 times compared with that in 2001.

The total fiber processing volume of the entire industry reached 26.9 million tons in 2005, gaining about 80 percent from that in 2001; Chinese people's fiber consumption was 7.5 kg per capita in 2001, now has increased to 14 kilograms, exceeding 27 percent of the world average total fiber consumption.

In 2005, the industrial supply and demand were basically in balance, the rate of production and marketing was 97.58 percent, one percent over that in 2001.
