An exhibition-cum-sale of carpets has been organized by Handicrafts Services Center, Union Ministry of Textiles at Murran. Exhibition, displaying carpets made in the center, was opened by Mehraj Ahmad Kakroo, District Development Commissioner of Pulwama.
At the inaugural function, Mehraj informed that skillful designs have provided a matchless repute to Kashmiri handicraft items. Handicraft sector sustains livelihood of a large number of people.
He added that this sector must be supported well, which could increase employment opportunities.
Presently about 23 primary training centers and 18 advanced ones are operating in Pulwama, which train nearly 1,000 people and provide total stipend of Rs15.85 lakhs to them.
