Don't get surprised if you see five lakh Government employees wearing khadi or handloom clothes in Kerala.

Kerala's LDF Government is planning to ask employees of the state to wear clothes made of khadi at least once in a week.

According to sources, this step will boost khadi and handloom industry, which is dependent on bounties of state-subsidies for its survival.

It is just a request from the Government as no dress code will be enforced on employees.

In the state, about 35,000 people in handloom sector and 10,000 in khadi sector are employed.

Even Education Minister is planning to appeal public schools to make students wear uniforms made of khadi from the next academic year.
