Ningxia Lingwu named 'Quality Cashmere Industry City'

In the eastern mountainous areas of Lingwu spread large tracts of grassland, local people developed animal husbandry here in history. It is also the tradition for local farmers and herdsmen to sold processed fur and cashmere. In the small-scale peasant economy era of self-sufficiency, fur and cashmere trading was only sporadically in small quantities.

In 80s last century, under the influence of the reform and opening up policy, a large number of extensively traveling traffickers started trafficking activities of 'soft gold'.

From the 1990s, Lingwu cashmere enterprisers focused deep processing industry as their investment projects and set up factories. A few years later, some employers started massive scale production of dehair cashmere.

In April 2003, the construction of 'Lingwu cashmere industrial park' was official started. This was a special initiative for the local government to carefully build the cashmere industry in Lingwu City.

This project covered an area of 3,000 mu (one hectare = 15 mu), with more than 70 million yuan of initial investment into cashmere industrial park, creating an excellent platform for various cashmere enterprises to complete the change from primary products into high-end products. Many well-known enterprises from home and abroad came, bringing a total investment of over 1.1 billion yuan.

These cashmere enterprises recruited experts and technical personnel from other provinces. They put huge investment into advanced domestic and imported equipments and technology.
