About 25 textile and apparel manufacturing clusters across the country would be set up with Government funding to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore in the coming three years, says Union Textile Minister Shankersinh Vaghela.
The Minister was non-commital about the time frame for setting up the clusters.
This would be done only after merging two existing plans, Textile Centres Infrastructure Development Scheme and Apparel Parks for Export, said Textiles Secretary R Poornalingam.
For this, entreprenuers would be provided 40 percent subsidy only on infrastructure to the tune of Rs 40 crore within the clusters, expressed Poornalingam.
