Export of silk products from Sichuan decline by 34.3%

During January to November 2006, Sichuan province' export value of silk products stood at US $81.99 million, a decline of 5.8 percent over the same period 2005.
In November 2006, export value of silk products was $5.48 million, a decline of 50.3 percent over October 2005.
In 2006, there was slight increase in price of the silk products but the quantity of exports declined.
Sichuan province, one of the major exporters of silk, is facing problems like increasing cost of raw material, anti-dumping duty and unstable silk price.
