Mr.Mallyah, Representative of INDA, addressed at NWTC inaugural programme. It is quite an opportune time for India and the Indian Textile industry. More importantly, the friendship and the mutual respect between India and the United States of America is at its peak since the cold war era.
Much has been said about the positive outcomes of the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal which is hoped to deliver a myriad of business opportunities between the two countries. Such opportunities not only exist in defence and energy sectors but also in the untapped high tech sectors such as Nonwovens.
This is what happening in Mumbai. We are witnessing a maiden event bringing the association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry known as INDA to India to create a broader awareness and acceptance of Nonwoven industry in India.
India is next only to China in conventional and commodity textiles. But its contribution in the disposable Nonwoven segment is very low at the present times. The Nonwoven roll good industry alone is worth between 16 to 19 Billion US dollars worldwide. India should certainly take a share of this pie.
In order to achieve this, the Indian conventional Textile Industry and entrepreneurs should gain deeper knowledge and confidence in the state of the art Nonwovens Technologies, products and the status of the global market. The Association of the Nonwoven fabrics Industry is coming to India to create positive opportunities between the Indian Textiles and manufacturing industries and the member companies of INDA.
