Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT) is trying for implementation of technology developed at field level as pilot projects.

According to concept paper submitted to Indian Council of Agricultural Research, cotton fibre and by-products of cotton plants can be value added and it can help in creating employment opportunity in rural areas.

The decision to implement technology at field level as pilot projects would take couple of month.

Institute has proposed to make cotton bales on the basis of fiber's quality and use cotton plant stalk to make particle boards and extract oil from cotton seeds. The stalk could also be used to generate energy.

The project would likely go on for about five years.
