India should not link the grant of most-favoured nation (MFN) with South Asia Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA), Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar said.
At a ceremony of Lahore Economic Journalists Association (LEJA), Minister declined allegation of not implementing free trade treaty.
He told that all SAFTA rules would be applicable in recent enlarged list of items that could be imported from India, adding that India should not link MFN with SAFTA.
On the issue of cost of production, he said that Government is evaluating economic and monetary policies that are affecting cost of doing business and exports.
Preliminary findings revealed that subsidies and incentives provided by competitors are affecting the Pakistan's textile industry.
