Cotton Standard Institute (PCSI) reported recently that the almost 50,800 bales of clean lint were approved by January 2007, already reaching 50 percent of its target.
Around 23 mills in Punjab and Sindh produced a total of 1.791 million maunds of seed cotton.
Under the Ministry's clean cotton programme a total of 755,804 maunds or 50,800 bales were certified as clean cotton, of which, almost 39,400 bales have been sold to traders and exporters.
This program aims at producing atleast 100,000 bales of clean and standardised cotton in Punjab and Sindh in the current season.
