There are many artistic, creative and innovative producers in Manipur, the north eastern state. Many self help groups in Manipur are producing quality products but are incapable to keep on their trade due to absence of customers and due to lack of interest of the government.
The Manipur Emporium Panthoibi run by Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Cooperative (MHHDC) located at C-7 Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi is surely lacking the Manipuri touch.
The spacious ground floor of this emporium has a jewelry stall where you can find real and artificial jewelleries of Rajasthan, Kashmir and from other states.
Another stall has beautiful handloom tasar silk and cotton saris, carpets, rugs and durries, beautiful Kashmiri shawls, scarves, stoles.
The least appealing place in the emporium is the stall where Manipuri silk, cotton saris, dress materials, the reed mats, baskets, etc are showcasing.
MHHDC have not taken any step to improve the situation of this place or to attract the customer where feel of Manipur is missing.
